ÀṢÀ Magazine

Every publication begins with a question: what story are we trying to tell? We work with clients to find the editorial idea that holds everything together, shaping how stories are researched, written, commissioned and designed. From the first conversation to the final page, we think about what a publication should say and how people will experience it.

How do you tell the story of a National Theatre turning 50 and finding its feet again? We were commissioned to create ÀṢÀ, the National Theatre's first-ever magazine, at a defining moment in its history. Rather than simply looking back over five decades, we wanted to capture the Theatre as it is today, the people who kept its spirit alive and the possibilities ahead. We developed an editorial concept around six words from six Nigerian languages, that became the magazine's blueprint. From there came the editorial structure, the interviews, the commissioned essays and the design. The result is a publication that brings together the Theatre's history, the work of the people rebuilding its future and the culture it was created to serve.
