Eight years ago, Nicole Asinugo sat in a conference room in Dubai with a government delegation from Seychelles. They were there to find the heart of the country’s pavilion at Expo 2020.
The blue economy came up. Preserving the islands. Important things - the kind that fill government briefs but rarely reach the people they’re meant to describe.
Nicole set it aside and asked something simpler. Tell me about a day in the life of a Seychellois person.
Swimming, they said. Kayaking. The beach.
Then one person said, almost to himself: oh yeah, we go treasure hunting.

Then one person said, almost to himself: oh yeah, we go treasure hunting.
The room moved on. Nicole didn’t.
Beneath the surface was a myth that had lived in Seychelles for centuries. Buried treasure, never found, possibly real, woven so deeply into island life it had become part of how the country knew itself.
That became the spine. Treasure Nature. Preserve Paradise.
Not a slogan, but a living expression of everything the country had been trying to protect.
Write Good Stories was founded on that discipline. The belief that no matter the brief, the real story is always there. You just have to know how to look.
